Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

He saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
